Oxford Tops World University Rankings

Oxford Tops World University Rankings Yes, that is right, Oxford tops world University rankings and beats Cambridge who came 4th. It is ranked by the Higher Educational Supplement and Oxford had to topple California’s Institute of Technology. They had beaten everyone over the last 5yrs so it was difficult to topple them, I should imagine.

We here who live and work in Oxford are reliant on the University and its reputation for many of our businesses. With the Brexit vote going against Oxfords 70% plus majority to stay in, it is a welcome sign that Oxford will still do well in the coming year. So Oxford tops world University rankings is very welcome here at Diana’s B&B.

Watch out for the bicycles! There are many more than one!

Here at my B&B I get lots of visiting students, especially on the open days, one of which has recently taken place. They come by themselves and sometimes with their parents to have a look and see the colleges they are interested in. Of course if you have been the one of the Public Schools in the UK (Public here in the UK means fee paying) you will have a head start. It is these schools who have the experience to pass on to their pupils as to what is looked for in a Oxford University potential student. It is not by chance that Oxford has the lowest intake of students from the State sector with only 57.4%.This is according to HESA, who process and publish data about higher education in the UK. It is when you know the system and what is expected that you have a head start and Public Schools give this to all their pupils.

We have several of them here in the heart of Oxford, including two famous girls schools – Headington Girls School and Rye St Anthony. For the boys (although they have started to take in girls recently there is St Edwards (Teddies as those at the school call it) and Magdalen School, right in the centre of town.

I hope you come and bring you bright children here too. A visit can inspire any young person and that can overcome all obstacles. So hope to see you soon at my B&B.
